  • Poll Question:

The Sci-Fi Lovers Books and Films web site - http://www25.brinkster.com/topscifi/index.html - recently had a vote (which we didn't know about) on the best Sci-Fi shows of all time. WWWest came in 33rd, which isn't too bad considering many newsgroups apparently stacked the vote.

Sci-Fi Lovers Books and Films has asked us Wild Wild West fans to vote on our Top Five most Sci-Fi episodes. They will be putting the final Top Five on their site along with episode synopses. Please list your Top Sci-Fi eps - one list per person, please. We'll turn the Top Five overall in to the site for publication.

See the Top Sci-Fi tv shows list at http://www25.brinkster.com/topscifi/page37.html

We've listed some sci-fi'ish eps in no particular order to get you started in the Poll Results. You may add other eps besides these if necessary by posting them to the WWWest Forum.

    Some choices:

  • TNot Lord of Limbo
  • TNot Murderous Spring
  • TNot Krakan
  • TNot Burning Diamond
  • TNot Man-Eating House
  • TNot Wolf
  • TNot Doomsday Formula
  • TNot Janus
  • TNot Puppeteer

  • Harken back to late '90s. In a nasty little power struggle, Barry Sonnenfeld wrestled WB's "Wild Wild Waste" away from original producer Jon Peters, who was the one who was an actual fan of our favourite series and who really wanted to do the project. That is fact. Less well known is Sonnenfeld's reasons for the coup, but many close to the source feel that Sonnenfeld was entremely unhappy about the originating studio's decision (at that time) not to make a sequel to the film that made him famous, "Men in Black". Rumor has it that Sonnenfeld was extremely determined to make his MIB sequel, and WB's Wild Wild Waste was one way to vent that energy. The fact that Sonnenfeld himself publicly called the WB nonsense "Men in Black Hats" -- MIBH? -- only supports this theory.

How we all wish Mr. Sonnenfeld had vented his frustration in some other direction. Anyway, Sonnenfeld's sordid celluloid catharsis did so poorly that it failed to curb the producer's MIB lust, apparently. Well, he finally got his way: "Men in Black 2" in theatres this year.

  • "The Golden Boot Awards 2002"

We're proud to report that Wild, Wild West stunt coordinator Whitey Hughes will be the recipient of the "Oscar of the stunt industry", the prestigious Golden Boot Award, on August 10th, 2002 during the Motion Picture & Television Fund's annual dinner honoring the recipients. All proceeds of the Golden Boot Awards Banquet go to the Motion Picture & Television Fund, which provides healthcare for industry employees who may find themselves in need during their lifetime.

The Golden Boot Awards banquet will take place at the posh Beverly Hilton and consists of a pre-banquet party and the awards dinner itself, both at the Hilton. Whitey being who he is, has generously thought of the fans of The Wild Wild West first and foremost. If you are planning to be in the Los Angeles area August 9th and 10th, 2002, and would like to attend the banquet and associated events, Whitey has offered to reserve places at a Wild Wild West table (or tables, depending upon how many chose to attend) for all of us to be together at the dinner. Sue Kesler and Bob Herron have already confirmed their attendance and many other Wild Wild West alumni have expressed interest at attending, dependent upon their schedules come August.

Spaces at the Golden Boot Awards go fast, so if you are considering attending, please contact us ASAP. To help with this decision, here are the specifics for the 2002 Golden Boot Awards that are confirmed at this time (Jan 2002):

Cost is $200 per person, to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund.

All who attend the banquet are also invited to the wild and woolly annual pre-Boot party, where the admin of this web site can say that she's actually met folks like Tom Selleck, Sam Elliot, David Dortort, Robert Fuller, Ernest Borgnine, Jack Elam, Andrew J Fenady, Burt Kennedy, Barbara Luna, Anne Lockhart, Sharon Farrell, Beverly Garland, Bruce Lansbury, Sue Ane Langdon, William Campbell, and many, many more we can't think of at the moment. Cost of the pre-Boot party and dinner on Friday August 9th is $10 per person at the door, by invitation only.

If you are considering attending the Golden Boot Awards banquet and would like a place at the Wild Wild West table, please contact us ASAP. We would love to see you there!

Additional - for those of you who remember and are still angered by certain negative remarks made publicly by William Whitney about our favourite programme, don't plan on packing any tomatoes.   Rumor has it that Mr. Whitney will probably not be able to attend the banquet due to an unfortunate health issue.
