CURRENT UPDATE - JULY 2001
The 2001-2002 Walk of Fame recipients have been announced, and no posthumous stars were awarded this year.
Yes, of course, this is disappointing news. To say otherwise would be silly. But as with all things, it is just a matter of time, perseverance, and circumstance. We will resubmit in 2002 and perhaps the universe will turn things our way at that time. :-)
We would like to extend our gratitude to the Walk of Fame committee for their consideration. And a huge THANK YOU to everyone involved in supporting this worthwhile effort. Keep up the good work and positive thoughts, and don't forget to shop from The Star Fund.
UPDATE - MAY 2001
The 2000-2001 submission of Ross Martin for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been completed and turned in to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, meeting the May 31st deadline.
The Walk of Fame selection committee usually convenes the first or second week of June. If we have not received any word by the second week of June or so, it's probably safe to assume our submission has not been chosen. Again as in the past four years, there will be only one posthumous star awarded for the 2001-2002 period so the competition will be very tough. History has shown, however, that if we persevere, as with other groups we will be successful -- it's just a matter of time.... and funds. :)
Since we began this odessey in early 1995, the price of a Walk of Fame star has risen from $5,000 to $15,000 and could increase without notice at any time. Generous supporters of our effort (who wish to remain anonymous) have offered to cover the large, unannounced price hike from '98-'99.* To these generous souls, we say "May your deity bless you!" And to everyone who wishes to see this long-overdue honor awarded, what can we say but "We could really use donations!"

Reggae singer Bob Marley was chosen as the 2000-2001 postumous recipient of a Star, an honor certainly long-overdue.

UPDATE - JULY 1999
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame selection committee chose legendary comedian Phil Silvers for the single 1999-2000 posthumous star. Our congratulations go out to Mr. Silvers' family and supporters - there is no doubt the gentleman deserves a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!!
We will of course resubmit our nomination of Ross Martin for 2000-2001, regardless of cost.

UPDATE - MAY 1999
Our 1998 submission automatically rolls over through 1999. 1999 submissions are due May 28th and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Walk of Fame selection committee makes their decisions sometime during the first couple weeks of June. We should know if we need to put in a new submission for 2000 before July 1st. Here's hoping we don't need to do so!

UPDATE: 1998-99 selections
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has just announced their list of 1998-8 Hollywood Walk of Fame recipients. Approximately ten stars were awarded in each of the various categories ( film, television, radio, and theatre ) with only one star given among all these categories posthumously. One can well imagine just how competative is this particular award. Last year's winner was none other than composer George Gershwin!
May 29th 1998, friends and fans turned in the required paperwork to nominate actor-extraordinaire Ross Martin, ("Artemus Gordon", Wild,Wild West, "Andamo" Mr. Lucky, OTR, more...) for the hotly-contested award, our second attempt. There were 200 posthumous nominations and the 1998 posthumous recipient was announced June 17th as singer Patsy Cline, whose supporters had to wait five years to have this distinguished artist chosen. Congratulations to her family and fans.
Nominations are good for two years, after which a new submission must be made. It goes without saying we'll nominate Ross Martin until he is selected.
