Ah … Henry Darrow: what a fine actor. Along with Ricardo Montalban, he was instrumental during the 60s and 70s in promoting the casting of first-rate Latinix actors for more and better parts.
My favorite Darrow performance was in Rod Serling's Night Gallery: an uneven series that disgusted Serling, who had no creative control, but whose adaptation of Lovecraft's "Cool Air" was a standout. Mr. Darrow played the lead, beautifully. It's a creepy, yet surprisingly heartfelt, story of love. Lovecraft set the table for the creepiness; Serling brought the romance. |
