One of the baddies (the one who met his untimely end w/an exploding watch) to our heroes in TNOT Torture Chamber. |

I keep going back to Torture Chamber myself, but DT said it wasn't that episode. |

I suddenly had this vision of Tigo (or Artie as Tigo) from TNOT Skulls, but of course that's season 2, so I know I'm wrong. |

Hint #3
Silver doesn't earn a gold star, but maybe a bronze one. |

I think I've spotted something suspicious. Now I know what episode I'm putting on as soon as I get home. Maybe tomorrow I'll have the answer. |

And it's probably from an episode I watch frequently... |
James: Thanks, Artie. Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"? James: Thanks, Artie. Artemus: It's a pleasure. - TNOT Pistoleros |

Here's another wild guess. How about the baddie to Artemus in TNOT Thousand Eyes. |

Not from 10,000,000 eyes (that's with inflation and population growth). |

I guess you guys were all good little kids and never did anything your parents told you not to. I even tried rubbing two sticks together, but it didn't work either. |

I'm pretty sure I have eliminated it being actually addressed to a governor. Now I'm checking out the episode suggested by that last, not-so-veiled hint. |

It's not TNOT Flaming ghost.
I'm officially stumped here. |

Yeah, and apparently Tennyson wasn't even IN Inferno. *rolls eyes*

OK. Let's put it all together.
The quote:
Season 1
Why of course, Governor.
The Hints/Clues
Hint #1
When I attended cub scout meetings**, I remember learning this...and trying it to do it when my parents weren't around.
**(My mother was a den mother and I was too young to be left alone)
Hint #2
Related directly to my previous clue.
Meaning having one eye or one-eyed.
Hint #3
Silver doesn't earn a gold star, but maybe a bronze one. |

Boy, it has been fun watching you guys try to reason this out. Here's a hint that should be a dead give a away.
Some people have money to burn. |

Geez DT. All your clues make me think of other eps in seasons other than S1. |

I've tried to stay out of this, but I can't stand watching grown board members weep:
"Why, of course, Governor. You can count on it."
Thorwald Wolf to monocled "Colonel Sandoval," who, after their planned takeover of Baja, invites Wolf to join him at the Governor's Mansion at Senanoa ("The Freebooters," Act II).
D. T. is a real slyboots, from whom the rest of us should take lessons in picking tough quotations. There is, of course, not a governor in sight in that episode—only once, in sound. A perfect red herring. I congratulate you. |

Thanks for putting us out of our misery, ccb! I think that is the only episode I completely brushed off in my search for that line!

Well done ccb. It was fun watching them suffer! Have at it.
Most of the hints referred to Jim lighting the fuse with the monocle that Artie dropped. |

That referred to the fact that you were correct in that the quote didn't come from someone speaking to an actual governor. |

You know, last night I thought about watching Freebooters, but then decided those clues referred to Flaming Ghost. The hint about it not being an episode I watch frequently encompassed them both!
Well done, ccb.
Now be gentle and try not to find TOO hard a quote for us. DT is the expert on that. |
