Season 2.

The Taj Mahal?

Clue #1: Practice makes perfect... sometimes.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

Well, it's been almost Thanksgiving since Cal gal posed this one, so I'm going to leap in and take my lick:

"The Taj Mahal" is Mr. West's droll answer to Monty Hall's Dr. Loveless's question about what's behind the door of his training academy in "The Night of The Bogus Bandits" (Act II).

CCB, you are absolutely right! Thank you for chiming in. If you feel like continuing to play (I hope), just add a quote and give your scintillating clues. Otherwise either Niecie or I will continue it, probably. Sadly, we seem to be the only ones still interested in the show (along with you, obviously).

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

Thank you for your kind invitation. I'll play, but I warn you: I'm lousy with conjuring clues. You and niecie are geniuses with clever, accurate clues that don't give away the show.

Another problem: I haven't been keeping up with you all these years. The first line out of my mouth was probably posted just before last Thanksgiving.

Oh, well. Here goes nothing. From Season 1:

"How did you know?"

I hear only the chirping of a cricket. Maybe not even that. Maybe someone is waiting for a clue.

Season 1: "How did you know?"

1. Beside the galleon a windmill turns.

Thank you for Hmming. Now I know there's more than a cricket out there.

Season 1: "How did you know?"

1. Beside the galleon a windmill turns.

2. The key is No. 1935.

Yes, ccb, we've all become very lax on posting on this website. Not like "the good old days" when we had ccb posting very difficult quizzes for us to ponder over. We should be ashamed. But, I will think about this for awhile.

Good grief, b.b. I'm not here to shame anybody! It's quite a a paradox that those who feel ashamed have no good reason, and those who feel no shame have plenty of valid reasons. But that's always been so.

So … while online, here's another stupid clue:

Season 1: "How did you know?"

1. Beside the galleon a windmill turns.

2. The key is No. 1935.

3. This may be the only episode that ever drew big fan mail from the DFA: the Dairy Farmers of America.

You said you couldn't give "good" clues, ccb. I beg to differ. You have my head spinning. I'm thinking, I'm thinking...

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?

You don't need to insult us yet, but it might come to that! Still thinking and today I believe I'll have opportunity to watch 2-3 episodes. Tough work, but someone's gotta do it!

James: Thanks, Artie.

You don't need to insult us yet, but it might come to that! Never, ever would I do such a thing.

Time out from the current quizzie, to pick up, belatedly, two of Cal Gal's clues on 01.09.20.

Clue #7: Was this the last of Great Aunt Maude?

In a word: No. Decades ago I'm sure I ran this in a Weekend Quiz, but we could return to it someday. What were Artie's first and last references to Great Aunt Maude?

Clue #6: The mystery remains to this day... did he sell it or not?

Even though I correctly guessed the episode, this clue baffles me. Did who sell what? The mystery remains to this day.

Now this is really weird, and I don't think my brain is that frazzled YET! I don't think I added those last 2 clues. I wasn't going to use Aunt Maude except as a last resort and I was not there yet despite how long the quote had lingered. And I have no idea what the "sell" clue means... other than the old coot's mustache perhaps. But it wasn't me! At least I don't think it was! Maybe I added them in my sleep. Who knows?

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

Thanks, Cal gal, for… ah … clearing that up.

Season 1: "How did you know?"

1. Beside the galleon a windmill turns.

2. The key is No. 1935.

3. This may be the only episode that ever drew big fan mail from the DFA: the Dairy Farmers of America.

5. Pert near four months; seven years for sure.

6. At bit morbid, but Colonel Sanders just might approve.

7. Three seasons later: the same offer, the same refusal, the same reconsideration, the same acceptance.

Well, it's great to see that I haven't gotten any smarter over the years. If I got smarter I simply couldn't stand myself.

I've tried 5 episodes with no success. I thought I had it with Human Trigger when The Professor called his huge sons "bovines", but that didn't work. I empathize with Thaddeus and Hercules. I also am willing but dumb.

Don't worry, Beerbad. I'm in the same boat. I still haven't had a chance to watch any episodes but I'm not sure my original idea is good anymore!

James: Thanks, Artie.

If I got smarter I simply couldn't stand myself. Don't fret, beerbad. We're all getting dumber. If you got smarter we couldn't stand you, either.

Your reference to "bovines" bestirred in me another clue.

8. Wrong. The cattle buyers were definitely not better.

By George I think I have it! That last clue finally dawned on me and I watched the episode.

TNOT Bars of Hell. Jennifer McCoy to Artie (disguised as the street preacher) after he asks her "Who do I have to kill?" In fact, she says it twice.

You're right: she does say it twice. Congratulations, C.G.

I was saving my last cards to play until we all had worn ourselves out:
  • The episode with the longest one-take tag in the series' history;
  • The longest and probably best butt-shot in the series' history; and
  • The true giveaway: Party-crasher.
After two weeks of play the Old Quizmaster feels like he still has some vinegar in him. But he's now even older than he was before retirement. So I'll retreat back into the woodwork whence I came and enjoy watching from the sidelines the site's few stalwarts keep the flame alive.

Blessings upon you all.
