TNOT Headless Woman.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.

Season 3
Oh, that's good. That's-- that's very good.

Clue the first:
One of our Big Bads has been here before. (In fact, the actor has shown up in two episodes before and played a baddie every time - well, except for about a minute in the tag of one of 'em...)

Clue the second:
That's our Artie: always gallant!

Clue the third:
Odd thing to find when you take off someone's shoe.

Clue the fourth:
Rogues' Gallery

Clue the fifth:
Quietly? Not hardly - especially since Jim promptly kicks a henchie right into a gong. *clang!*

Clue the sixth:
(Just to make it clear, the rogue mentioned in Clue the fourth is our very own Artemus Gordon...)

Clue the seventh:
Hope the guy who fell into the water unconscious didn't drown!

Clue the eighth:
The incredible loud pink textured vest (waistcoat) on one of the Big Bads!

Clue the ninth:
And the pink-clad Big Bad obligingly outlines the evil plan to Jim - after all, he's about to have Jim killed, so it won't matter what he knows, right?

Clue the tenth:
By my count, Whitey Hughes plays at least three henchies of the pink-clad Big Bad - and Jim knocks over all three of them.

Clue the eleventh:
Ain't that a kick in the head! (when Artie kicks the pink-clad Big Bad)

Clue the twelfth:
Shouldn't the dessert at that dinner have been coconut cream pie, made from scratch by the charming young Girl-of-the-Week?

Clue the thirteenth:
The mannequins in that one lady's apartment in Experiment in Terror reminded me of this episode.

Clue the fourteenth:
The scene in question features Artie's artistic skills.

Thank you very much for the last clue pointing to the scene, because I watched the episode TWICE and still missed it. I was fairly sure the speaker was Artemus, but I thought it would be while in disguise... not while creating the disguise!

So... Artie to Jim in TNOT Headless woman, after Jim "compliments" him on his use of the English language as an excuse for Artie always doing long messages and reports.

Phew!

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

The third clue pinpointed Dr Loveless, so I watched Wizard; not there. Then the dangerous choo-choo had me thinking of Deadly Bed and I started watching it - when suddenly I thought of John Crain's toy train in Whirring Death! Watched that one, and there it was:

Whirring Death, Artie to Mr Ratch about his entire fortune being $5 million - Artie says it's over 20 million.

Well. Finally, I was able to watch the episode I was pretty sure the quote came from, TNOT Spanish Curse. I was fairly certaom it was Artie speaking, and while in disguise. But I didn't know when, where, and to whom. Missed it first time through, but caught it when I replayed.

Artie to the poor fellow who got dumped in the lake after his horse was scared by the fake rattlesnake.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.
