A total guess: One of Desmond's goons referring to Mr. West in 'Fugitives'. |

I think I know who said it now, without watching the episode, but I'll give Falcon a chance to give it a shot since he's so close. |
James: Thanks, Artie. Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"? James: Thanks, Artie. Artemus: It's a pleasure. - TNOT Pistoleros |

Well, at least I didn't have to wait long to see the correct answer in 'Fugitives' - Sheriff Baggs referring to Plank's picture.
I just picked up on something I hadn't noticed before: at 5:57, Mr. West is flashing a partially-obscured 5-pointed law badge from the inside of his jacket. |

Hmm, I never noticed the badge either. Will have to take a look. I always thought it was odd that Baggs took his word that he was a "fed." |

Well, since this quote was posted I've watched nothing but season 3 episodes and still haven't found it. I think I need a clue! |

As Artie would say, "We always do work together...just separately."
The hint did help me eliminate the episode I was watching since it was one of the few where they were together most of the time. |

Betsy to Jim at the dinner table in Headless Woman.
(Knew it had to be in one of my least favorite episodes! ) |

I’m glad Betsy didn’t burn “with the rest of you dummies.”
I picked up a trivial observation. At 0:29, Mr. West put his spyglass back in the case attached to his saddle, but the case flipped over and dumped the spyglass on the ground. Then his horse did a complete turn in place, but never stepped on the spyglass. Perhaps if someone visited this exact spot today with a metal detector and shovel, he might find it (assuming this area hasn’t been covered over with condominiums in the last 44 years). |

You really get the impression that they weren't big on re-shooting scenes, don't you?
Let's go to season 2:
I’m working on that problem. |
James: Thanks, Artie. Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"? James: Thanks, Artie. Artemus: It's a pleasure. - TNOT Pistoleros |

That sounds like something Artie would say... but it might have been Jim. I'll guess it's "The Night of the Watery Death"? |

An episode with an explosion? That would only eliminate about four shows . Maybe it's Jim in "The Night of the Man-Eating House"? |

Not Man-Eating House. One more episode eliminated.
I'll try to think of a better clue. Coming up with clues is sometimes more difficult than guessing a quote! |

I'll take a stab at Jim to that princess in "The Night of the Raven" (whose plot involves young lovers). |

Nope, not Raven. If my memory is serving me correctly, the last clue was actually mentioned in the episode. |

CG, the only ep I know of where Romeo and Juliet is mentioned is Big Blast. So that's my Wild guess and ... well, maybe the line is Jim to Artie in this case? |

You are right again. On the coach, just before they miraculously came up with that net to throw over the clone.

Okay, folks, be patient pls. I don't want to make this too easy OR too hard. But with our experts I don't think the latter choice is really gonna happen. I will go quote hunting ... and have one for you tomorrow. PROMISE!
