Jim West had a knife in his shoe and it got him and Artie out of more than a few scrapes.

So why didn't Artie ever have one?

Discuss.

Ya know....I thought the same exact thing while watching Flying Pie Plate tonight too. I'm not joking! I also wondered why Artie doesn't wear tricky stuff like Jim to get himself out of trouble too. Maybe knife shoe company doesn't carry Artie's foot size haha

That is an interesting question, one I never considered before. Of course, Jim is the "man of action" while Artie is the "man of ideas." He rarely gets into real trouble, perhaps because he is less rash than Jim.

James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: "Thanks Artie"! Is that all you can say to me? I've just come back from the grave, risen like Lazarus, and that's what you say? "Thanks, Artie"?
James: Thanks, Artie.
Artemus: It's a pleasure.

Artie did carry a number of other nifty gadgets, mostly of the smoke-bomb or needlessly-complicated-lock-pick variety. Never occurred to me that he didn't carry a simple knife! (Maybe he wanted one that out-Swissed a Swiss army knife and could never acquire one...)

Ah, that's a good question. He has carried knives while in disguise, while in character. It just isn't in his own character to carry one.
